Our Vision
“We are the eyes of the world” as the Buddha said. We view the world as it is - sacred, meaningful, alive and interconnected. We also recognize the world as normally perceived – separated, confused and aggressive, grasping on to pleasures and attempting to avoid pain. However, we are not confused or discouraged. We make the Lion’s Roar – the fearless proclamation of our lived experience. We affirm unconditionally our own basic goodness and recognize the sacredness of the world.
Mission
We embrace the whole of our lives – our inner world, the world of others, and the entire natural world. Unlike some forms of meditation or spirituality that attempt to withdraw from the world or achieve an exclusive inner peace, we open ourselves to everything with appreciation, discernment and compassionate loving kindness. We are particularly interested in creating a community or Sangha to put these visions and values into practice. This community is international, diverse and accepting. We want to connect with people that share our vision and help ourselves realize our interconnectedness and Buddha nature.
Tradition
We have a unique community that represents monastic, householder and yogi practice and lifestyles. We follow the Vajrayana Buddhism of Tibet and Mongolia founded by Shakyamuni Buddha and passed down through realized teachers from Nagarjuna, Chandrakirti, and Shantideva to Padmasambhava, Atisha, Tsongkhapa up to the present 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet.
In accord with H.H. the Dalai Lama’s profound wisdom, we remain respectful and appreciative of all the various schools of Buddhism established in Tibet. While representing the Gelukpa tradition of H.H. the Dalai Lama, we present and welcome qualified teachers from all the lineages. This is known as the Rimé (pronounced "Remay") or unbiased tradition.
